Planning

Planning — as early as possible — is essential to preparation and efficient design and delivery. Create a Preliminary Project Plan in an internal kickoff, even before external kickoff.

Include the appropriate Subject Matter Experts in this internal kickoff, but take care not to pigeon-hole SMEs into simply repeating the same projects (or type of project) over and over. Aim for breadth of relevant experience, as well as depth.
