3. External Kickoff

  • Onsite (at client site)

  • Introduce entire Conversation Design & Natural Language teams

    • This will necessarily be larger teams than for the Strategy Workshop

    • Include those who cannot attend in person; arrange online attendance

  • Present CD / NL concepts, plan, strategy

    • Present and discuss the Conversation Design Strategy Document

  • Present the Preliminary Project Plan

    Include a dedicated educational segment to introduce Natural Language concepts to the client

    • These will probably be new and unfamiliar

    • Don’t rush this!

  • Explain NL methodology & intent-gathering

  • Explain timeline of CD / NL interdependence

  • Use the Client Questionnaire to refine the Preliminary Project Plan

    • More detailed and accurate estimate of project duration and design complexity

  • This phase is time-boxed — when it’s over, it’s over!

    • Typically requires 4-5 days, plus travel time
